OK, not a Chevy problem, but it has a Chevy engine in it. I'm helping a buddy with a 41 Willy's street rod. He purchased a flaming river mustang power rack/pump combo that is giving us fits. At idle the rack is hard to turn, at 1000 RPMs it is too easy to turn. Just about the opposite of what should be happening. We've returned the pump and the replacement gives us the same feel.

Any ideas?????

thanks in advance.

Are the lines connected to the proper ports on the rack assembly?

according to the diagram we have they are. I questioned that also, and flaming river tech support told me that if they were switched the rack wouldn't work at all. Is that correct????

Has the belt been properly tensioned? They do not always squeal when slipping and it would allow a fluctuation of pump pressure. My only other thought right now would be a malfunction of the bypass valve in the pump.
Tech support doesn't sound like they are helping much. Has your buddy considered sending it all back and going with a different brand?

I think that may be the next thing to do. I'm going over at 2 to work on it some more.
