Well I have built the 'garage-mahal' to house my 70 Chevelle of 26 years!!!
-
Garage: 30x36, no windows and 10' cieling. Heated.... and sheet rocked.
MY WORLD.
-
Started mudding and taping the sheet rock and want to paint the walls.
Was thinking of white to brighten it up with the lighting.
-
What paint does everyone suggest?
Gloss?
Semi Gloss?
Egg Shell?
Etc...?
-
Brand?

Thanks!

Flat is best depending on your finishing skills
Gloss is best for clean-up but shows everything like a paint job.
I agree with the gloss or even semi-gloss being much easier to clean. Flat will really hold the dust more.

Go with gloss, the shop vac pulls the dirt off the shiney paint real easy.

Semi or satin Behr (http://behr.com/behrx/) . Even there flat is washable, but the satin holds up allot better. Try Swiss Coffee it's a little off white but not yellow, and doesn't show dirt as bad a bright white does. I've used it for years 'till last weekend. I bought some cheep Glidden to repaint my bathroom to freshen it up a little before we sell the house and thought I'd save a few bucks. Well 2 coats and 7 hrs later I'm still waiting for the paint to dry enough to start putting things back together. Keep in mind I painted almost the same color just a bit more tan than the taupe that was on. Trust me that's the last time I try saving $10 on paint. The other nice thing is it doesn't get chalky over time like some of the paints do.

I'd say high gloss. on the walls. Then just take a dust mop. to clean the walls when they need it. Alos ceiling fans are great. A friend of mine has a couple in his garage. Helps with the heat And in the summer. Plus he installed one of the garage door screens. That alot of people have in florida. Keeps the bugs out. KIDS!! he also put a screen door on the service door. Nice flow thru in the summer. Plus 27 inch t/v fridge. for keeping things cool, radio. intercom. right now the floor is just sealed. I guess thats next.
I used white eggshell. After 5 years, I'm beginning to wish I'd used brown.

Mine is painted beige - textured. (now it is oily, dusty, smokey, beige)
Does anyone really clean their garage walls?
I can barely get near the walls. :clonk:

Jeff i would be happy to remove some of the stuff keeping you away from the walls :D
I was going to do gloss white for light reflection and easy clean up, but if it going to turn brown I may just leave the plywood unpainted.

LOL:)
No, you should paint it for durability.
Just know up front - you are not going to be cleaning it much.
It's a Garage :D
