Who out there has a 1st generation Monte Carlo? I have a 72 and I'm curious what you have in it and what kind of times your getting at the track. Still working on mine and hoping to get it to the track this year. Just did get the thing running xmas eve day.

I have a 70 that I've had since 1996. It had a 400 small block in it when it was new. The kid I bought it from blew it up the day after beating the snot out of it at the local dragstrip. It had a two barrel carb with 2.73 gears and he showed me some time slips that were in the low 15's. I put a 350/300 horse crate motor in it with a 670 Holley Avenger carb, Edelbrock Performer intake, headers, and put 3.55 gears in it. I won't take it to the track but it seems to run all right to me. I wouldn't say it's fast by any means but it will hold it's own.

Are you talking about those long nosed, heavy, fancied up Chevelle type Monte Carlos?

I think they are cool :D. I see a few of them around town but never one for sale. Same go fast techinques that work on a Chevelle should work on them.

Exactly. I love these cars. You just don't see many of them at all. In my area I have only seen probably 7 of them and mine is the only one tubed. The one I currently own is my second one which I swear I will never get rid of. Had to sell the first one :( because I moved to go to college.

All the cars look really good. I can't believe your brother sold his 72. What did he get to replace the Monte?

He got a great deal on a 67 Camaro. But he misses that Monte

Hey mc71454. You're a member of the FGMCC aren't you? Your car looks familiar so I know I've seen a pic of it before.

EDIT: Well I just answered my own question. I just found you on the FGMCC site.

I have a 72 Nova, but the engine and trans (350/TH350) came out of a 72 Monte that I inherited from my mother. Would still have it, but some folks don't understand the meaning of red lights.:D

At least it's heart still lives on in the Nova (along with its disc brakes, and a few other parts);)
