I found this '56 on Craigslist in Oct. 2007. It had been setting in a garage in northern California for the past 30 years. It was not running when I got it and I had to tow it home on a trailer. I went through the fuel, brake, and cooling systems to get it back on the road. I color sanded and buffed the old paint and it shined up well.
I “borrowed” the ralley wheels and tires from my ’67 Camaro because the wide white wall tires that were on the ’56 had serious flat spots from setting so long.
I drove it to San Jose and back home yesterday which was a round trip of about 225 miles. I traveled at 70-75 MPH the whole trip and the old 265 burned a quart of oil.
